Business and ICT

Our Year 10/11 students currently follow the Cambridge National Award in Business and
Enterprise. This allows pupils to achieve Pass, Merit or Distinction in Business Studies.
Qualification aims and objectives are to enable students to:

  • develop fluent knowledge, skills and understanding of business areas, business ownership and
  • objectives of a business
  • apply knowledge to problem solving within business
  • research external factors and the effect they can have on a business
  • prepare for employment in a business

Based on students covering differing elements of the curriculum in their previous schools, a flexible
approach has been adopted towards the order of topics taught and also the length of time allocated to
each topic.

Due to the nature of our students, those who demonstrate large knowledge gaps and who struggle to access the GCSE curriculum, the NCFE Functional Skills course in ICT at Entry Level 3/ Level 1-2 is an ideal course for candidates wishing to develop transferable skills in using desktop applications such as, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. This enables them to work confidently and effectively in the technological world we live in. It is suitable for diverse needs of our individuals and provides the basic knowledge required for further education courses or apprenticeships.
