Duke of Edinburgh Expedition

The Duke of Edinburgh expedition started at Everton free school at 9 am on the 28th June 2018. The group consisted of 9 boys including Jamie, Tom, Mackenzie, James, James, Stewart, John, Owen and Igor.

We set off from school and made our way to Fron Farm where we would be based for the next two days. From the farm we set off to do our first walk up Moel Famau. After our walk we headed back to the camp where the group set up camp for the night and cooked burgers for their dinner.

After dinner we headed to Betws-y-Coed lakes. From the lakes we went to Llangollen town and had a walk around to see some of the heritage of the town and take in some of the local history.

After a long day we went back to camp and settled down for the night. The next morning the boys woke up bright and early at 4:30am ready for the day ahead. At 6am they packed up tents and cooked breakfast. After breakfast we headed to Loggerheads Country Park to begin our 2nd and final walk along to Devils Gorge, and back around to the starting point.

The expedition was a complete success with eight of the boys fully completing their Duke of Edinburgh bronze award.
