Preparation for Working Life

Preparation for working life is a Level 1 or 2 short GCSE course which prepares our students for life when they leave school. It is an inter-disciplinary course which covers aspects of careers, health, personal safety, employment opportunities, applying for jobs and personal finance.

Preparation for Working Life is a practical course in which students learn skills such as how and where to find employment opportunities, how to apply for jobs and courses, and how to prepare for an interview.

It consists of an external exam and coursework. The external exam consists of multiple choice, short sentence and structured answer questions worth 80% of the overall mark. In addition, an internal assessment worth 20% focuses on students applying for a job or course by writing an application letter and producing a CV.
